My comment on #Douthat’s #Obama the Theologian
I’m still thinking about the brouhaha that stemmed from our president’s talk at the National Prayer Breakfast, and I appreciated Ta-Nehisi Coates‘ take on this column by Ross Douthat. I thought I’d curate it, along with my comment. Continue reading My comment on #Douthat’s #Obama the Theologian
Immigration Reform Is a Black Thing, Too – The Root
Your Take: Pitting black issues vs. immigrant issues is a false dichotomy.
The administrative relief measures that President Barack Obama announced Thursday will benefit an estimated four million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. This long awaited measure came several months after the president promised to take executive action in the absence of any cooperation by an obstructionist Congress to pass legislation.

Dem Politics: Post-mortem is the new rehab
Former Governor Howard Dean was on Meet The Press today. With the exception of the very last sentence in this clip, I am in full agreement with everything he said.
Tuesday’s defeat was bound to be the catalyst for the kinds of events that happen after, well, all defeats. The victor gloats. Usually, the defeated retreat for a bit to reflect on their loss and how to move on. Continue reading Dem Politics: Post-mortem is the new rehab
Richard Engel: Obama’s ISIS, Al Qaeda Comparison ‘Wildly Off-Base,’
President Barack Obama outlined his strategy to take down the Islamic State in an address to the nation on Wednesday, comparing his plan to employ airstrikes to take down terrorists while supporting partners on the ground to past efforts to take out terrorists in Yemen and Somalia.

Hillary Clinton: ‘Failure’ to Help Syrian Rebels Led to the Rise of ISIS | The Atlantic
President Obama has long ridiculed the idea that the U.S., early in the Syrian civil war, could have shaped the forces fighting the Assad regime, thereby stopping al Qaeda-inspired groups—like the one rampaging across Syria and Iraq today—from seizing control of the rebellion. In an interview in February, the president told me that “when you have a professional army … fighting against a farmer, a carpenter, an engineer who started out as protesters and suddenly now see themselves in the midst of a civil conflict—the notion that we could have, in a clean way that didn’t commit U.S. military forces, changed the equation on the ground there was never true.”
The economy is showing signs of improvement – The Washington Post
So why aren’t Democrats talking about it?
By Jaime Fuller
Today, President Obama will be in Denver, talking about improvements in the economic picture and his work toward making them happen. The unemployment rate is at 6.1 percent, and the United States has added 1.4 million new jobs since the beginning of 2014. Jonathan Capehart: How President Obama will be impeached – The Washington Post
Writing about Rep. Eric Cantor’s (R-Va.) stunning primary defeat last week, I warned Democrats that the House majority leader’s loss was as much a wake-up call for them as it was for the GOP. Well, now I want to warn them about a very real possibility: President Obama will be impeached if the Democrats lose control of the U.S. Senate.
Yeah, yeah, I read Aaron Blake’s astute piece in The Post on the impeachment process. He says “probably not” to the question of whether the House could impeach Obama. But “probably” is not “definitely.” And with the way the impeachment talk has gone, “probably not” could become “absolutely” if the Senate flips to the Republicans.
